Sonoda Christchurch Campus is a small friendly campus, tucked away in the grounds of the University of Canterbury College Of Education.

Offering self catered or catered accommodation; Sonoda is the ideal place for those groups or conferences wanting a quiet, peaceful but convenient location.

The village boasts stunning Japanese gardens inclusive of ponds with fish, it is a real tranquil, peaceful experience. The gardens are available for your group to enjoy during your stay.

The Village offers a unique meeting space within the Hinoki Seminar room. A boutique style set up the room accommodates for 60 guests Theatre Style or 30 Classroom/U-Shape. Conference catering can be arranged to suit your group’s requirements.

These areas are shared by all guests and can also be made available for private functions. Shared spaces are ideal for registrations or a chill out area where groups can watch a movie, play games, conduct group activities or relax with a book and a cup of coffee. Shared spaces equipped with a variety of technology, a pool table, games, music, furniture and a full kitchen for your enjoyment.

The courts are available for individual use and for group competitions or leisure games. Our friendly staff can assist you with your booking.

laundry

Within the village there is a laundry that is coin operated. The Laundry can be accessed by day and night and entry is only available to guest via security access.

business centre

The Business Centre is equipped with a variety of technology and has computers set up in an ergonomically sound environment for your enjoyment. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is accessible by security access to all village guests upon request.

Rates for large groups can be negotiated depending on the size of the group and the proposed length of stay.

For stays of 3 nights or more your room will be freshened up and towels changed every 3 nights.
A full service will be carried out every 6 nights.
Breakfast consists of a light continental package for $10.00.

Built only 14 years ago, Sonoda is a well maintained, well appointed accommodation campus that features only four apartments per building.

Each apartment has 5 single bedrooms
Bathroom (including a bath!)
A well equipped kitchen lounge area with a TV.
Each bedroom has a comfortable standard single bed, drawers, desk, chair, large wardrobe with a lockable area and an internet connection.
Each building ha its own laundry with washer and dryer as well as an outside clothes line.
A central lounge in the main reception building has a pool table, large screen TV with digital SKY reception, DVD and VCR.
